sunPATH allows you to add new locations to its database.
To add a new location, select Add a New Location… from the Locations menu. A window will appear prompting you to select the Region and State/Country for your new location from the Locations menu. After selecting your State/Country, a New Location entry window will appear.
On-screen help is available by moving the cursor over the items in question. A range of Time Zone, Daylight Savings Time and Magnetic Declination information for the State/Country is available by moving the cursor to the top of the window.
• Enter the location’s name (27 characters maximum)
• Enter the Latitude and Longitude coordinates. You may enter the degrees and minutes in their respective boxes or enter a decimal number (ie: 34.6825) into the degree entry box. The value will be converted to Degrees and Minutes (34° 41’). Select North or South for Latitude and West or East for Longitude. (See the manual for suggestions on finding the coordinates for a new location.)

• Enter the location’s Time Zone into the entry box or use the Arrow buttons to select the correct zone. The Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is used as a relative standard (London GMT 0, California - Pacific GMT 8, Thailand GMT -7). For the purposes of this program, hours west of the Prime Meridian are POSITIVE, while those east are NEGATIVE. (12 to -12)
(The USA has probably the most complex time zone boundaries of any country. There is no map that conveys accurately all the nuances of time zones in this country, for in some areas the boundary does not conform even to city or county boundaries, let alone state boundaries.)

• Use the PopUp menu to select the Daylight Savings Time (DST, Summer Time, Advanced Time) that will be used by this location.

• Enter the Magnetic Declination for this location. Magnetic Declination is the angle between True North and Magnetic North, also known as Magnetic Variation.
Select West or East for the entry, ignore West or East for a zero declination.
If you do not know the declination, leave the box blank or enter a “?”, DO NOT enter zero.

• Click on the Add to Database button to add your new location to the database.
All user added or edited locations will have an asterisk (*) appended to the location name. These locations will be saved in the Personal Database file.
